VM Grabbed some time to interview Clare and Natalie at Oshun's Emporium just after Christmas. The store opened in the beginning of November 2006 and has done well so far...

VM] What inspired you to set up Oshun's?

We got our inspiration for the shop whilst taking a walk along a beautiful beach in summer 2006, so to honour that, we decided to call the shop Oshun’s Emporium after the African water goddess Oshun.

VM] Ahh, that helps, we thought it a typo! What kind of stock do you carry at Oshun's?

We wanted to bring a new shop to Mildenhall that had all of the things we were interested in and would want to buy ourselves, the people we know have similiar interests and it's been our hope the same could be said for many more.

It’s a testament to how much we believe in and love the products we stock that we do indeed buy and use them ourselves! Putting things simply, we think our stuff is all about self-development, relaxation and fun. After all, along with Love, that’s what life is all about.

VM] Clearly you have a relaxed attitude to life and want to share that, how is running a new business affecting this?

We're off our feet! That seems to be typical for everyone. Life is so busy now, we think the things we sell will help people get back in touch with what's important in life, and help people find themselves and some peace in this busy 21st century life.

VM] Having shopped your store (Christmas gift buying a bit easier in MIldenhall this year, thanks!) we know what a pleasant experience it is. What features do you have to make a shoppers life easy?

First-off the shop in the centre of town, so its quick and easyto find. We can offer customers gift vouchers if you find there are too many great things to decide upon, or you can fill out one of our Wish Lists and let everyone else know what you're interested in - great for gift buying occassions.

We’re happy to gift wrap anything you buy, the wrapping is free and just part of our service to make your shopping experience memorable - it's how local shopping should be.
